“It’s one of our country’s fastest growing parishes. Officials in Ascension came together to embrace a situation that could become problematic if key issues aren’t addressed soon. Parish officials put the wheels in motion for a “master plan” that would help the parish grow in a more orderly fashion. Residents will have a big say in what moves in and out of their communities.

Everywhere you turn, from the businesses, roadways, and on rooftops you can see Ascension growing. Studies show in the year 2010 the population will be more than 200,000. That’s the figure that was forecasted for 2014. Project planner Jim Winston says sometimes it just sneaks up on you. “When you have a lot of trees and it’s flat with no vistas, you’re not aware of growth until you drive down the highway and see congestion,” Winston said.”
