My Answer:
So sorry for delay in responding.  Both are very nice subdivisions with the one street with lake lots.  I’ve appraised homes in both subdivisions and 2-3 of the St Jude Dream Homes that Carlos Alvarez built in there.  It would seem that the Crossing side would have higher overall values, is newer and if you can buy in a newer subdivision over an older subdivision, that would be my recommendation.  With that said, The Lakes at Ascension may be a little more private at the dead end of Eads Road, have slight larger lots and access to Interstate 10 may be easier than the busy Hwy 621.  For example, a lot on Lakeshore Drive is generally 85′ x 149′ versus only 70′ x 140′ on Mindy Way Ave.  In The Lakes At Ascension, the homes don’t seem to be as bunched up together (as close together) as in the Crossing side.  I have nothing negative to say about either subdivision as both had good builders and positives experiences.
NOTE: Cell Tower.
If you have any concerns about a Cell Tower (or mobile phone tower) and the potential health issues these might emit, there is a large tower near center of the Crossing side.  This article seems to communicate that it’s a myth that these towers present a health hazard because the rate of RF waves are so relatively low : Cellular Phone Towers
